Aluminium Conductor, stainless steel

The Common Types of Stainless Steel Finishes

Stranded Steel Wires

Stainless steel is the second most commonly used material in Process industries after carbon steel products. It is widely popular due to its amazing qualities. Some of these qualities include its corrosion resistance property and sturdy nature.

The stainless steel products produced by the Group Nirmal are made of alloy steel with a small amount of chromium content and a large amount of carbon content. The amount of chromium is about 10.5% whereas the carbon content is about 1.20%. Moreover, these stainless steel products are highly ductile and resistant to corrosion. They are made non-corrosive by forming a coating of non-reactive chromium oxide (Cr203) on the outer surface of the products. This coating helps act as a hurdle between the metal and oxygen and prevents them from reacting.

The Group Nirmal ensures that these stainless steel products receive proper finishing as per their application in the industry. Proper finishing of the product also improves the appearance of the product. There are three common stainless steel finishing methods. These are:

2B Matte Finish –

Also known as the mill finish, this finish looks dull and isn’t the right one for aesthetic uses. This finish is also the least expensive stainless steel finishing alternative. It is produced by cold rolling the product through specially built dice. It is then softened and passed through an acid solution. The final pass through the rolls polishes the surface and enhances the finishing.

It is applicable in the following industries

  • Chemical plant equipment
  • Pharmaceutical equipment
  • Papermill equipment
  • Refrigeration
  • Sewage equipment
  • Laundry and dry cleaning equipment

4 Brushed Finish –

This finishing provides a unique look to the product and creates a parallel line pattern in the same. Although, the main disadvantage of this finish is that it reduces the corrosion resistance of the product. This finish is usually created by sanding the product in a single direction with a 120-180 grit belt. This is followed by softening with an 80-120 grit medium nonwoven belt.

These pipes find application in the following areas

  • Air conditioner
  • Automotive design
  • Architecture
  • Water heater
  • Home appliances
  • Jewelry and watches

8 Mirror Finish –

This finish usually aids in the creation of highly reflective surfaces. It improves the appearance of the products, makes cleaning simpler, and hides any form of surface damage. This finish is created by using a special rolling process that is designed to eradicate deep grooves from the surface. It also includes leveling the surface to create a reflective finish.

The applications of this product are found in the following industries

  • Mirrors
  • Clean rooms
  • Reflectors
  • Wall panels
  • Ornamental trim
  • Column covers

The Group Nirmal is an aluminum conductor and expert in formulating, understanding, and implementing the different techniques to produce intimidating products. They are even set to create distinguished products by using innovative means.
