Earth Wires are vital components of any electrical system and are used to protect against electric shock. In a wiring installation, the earth wire is used to create an electrical connection to earth, that provides an alternative path to the ground for heavy currents that might otherwise flow through a victim of electric shock. The earth wires from power points join to a main earth wire, which is attached to a metal pipe or any such metal object driven into the ground. If a fault occurs in an electrical system, earth wires help stop electricity passing through the body of the person using the faulty system, as they have a very low resistance.
